Project:WorlD Fighter

For this more long term project, I will be designing characters, sculpting, texturing, rigging and animating them for a fighting game.  I will also be tasked with coding the game and balancing it in conjunction with Isa Bolling.  I'm super excited to be working on this and plan to be working on it for quite some time.  This will be a place to put updates.  However, this projects conception is for my senior show at  Virginia Tech in April 2020, so I'll be showing the beginnings of it there at that time with a playable Alpha.

My vision for this game is a 2.5D, 6 button fighter.  Very traditional, but I want it to be in the style of Japanese anime much like that of Guilty Gear Xrd.  I will be learning to code my shaders and texture my characters in a way that can emulate the style that Guilty Gear has paved.  In the short term of one year, I hope to have two or three full characters created, shaders and textures finished, and a playable gameplay experience.  In this time I will be working on a storyline as I find that is necessary to create more interesting and compelling characters.  Not only that but create interesting and diverse movesets between characters.

This project has a lot of different aspects for it so I will be breaking down certain aspects here for the game.  The first order of business is designing characters.   Since the deadline for the show is only a year I am aiming for 2 characters fully designed and animated.  With that in mind, I first designed the characters above and will be iterating on them with improvements as the project moves on.  I also developed an input system in conjunction with Isa Bolling during the beginning stages of concepting.
